I Was Just Wonderin'...

Kurt Bush to Santa: Do You Need a Driver for the Sleigh?

Well, well, well. AJ's been released from Petty, and David Ragan's on his way there, it seems. I can't help but wonder what all the opportunities were that Kurt Busch spoke of in his last interview. Maybe Derrike Cope needs a start-and-park teammate.

And Matt Kenseth will again be back in Yellow with the Best Buy sponsorship for a few races. The crew won't look exactly like killer bees, but maybe bruised bees? It's the kinder, gentler hive.

From the files of: "Let's see if THIS will stop them!" we hear that for restrictor plate races, NASCAR has mandated a smaller radiator, a smaller overflow tank, a location change for the radiator inlet, softer springs, and a smaller rear spoiler. Somewhere I envision a mad scientist with bubbling beakers all around and a green glowing light in his lab as he laughs, "We WILL make those cars overheat...mwahahahaha!"

I read that NASCAR is also considering banning driver-to-driver communications. I know there was a time when it was forbidden, and ever since the new radio dials in the cars since Daytona last year, I've wondered when did that rule change that they COULD talk to each other.

And anyway, won't that just make more work for the spotters having to again scramble with being the middle man and running around making deals that are then communicated to the drivers? If NASCAR wants to stop the tandem, I wonder if they've considered that they'd better block the spotters from other driver frequencies more than driver-to-driver. It's the ability for one spotter to talk to multiple drivers that is the bigger problem.

How does a corporation the size and power of NASCAR ever find themselves in a position of having to try and buy back their digital rights? And when they do get the rights back from Turner, I wonder what happens to the writers at NASCAR.com.

Now that he's lost his house on top of having a criminal record, I wonder if the thought has yet come into Jeremy Mayfield's head that it's just better to tell the truth.

I wonder if anyone else finds it odd that when someone tweets to Kurt Busch that he's a nice guy, Kurt retweets it.

And speaking of Twitter, the best one I read this week was from Matt Taliaferro who said: The Cope twins are the cropdusters of Twitter. Just spraying "follow me's" across NASCAR Nation.

And one more thing I was just wonderin'...

Joey's getting a new crew chief since Zippy left. I wonder if a new sponsor would be a better idea. Maybe Keebler could sponsor the #20, because they're familiar with bread, AND they come with their own pit crew. Yes, they're wearing curly-toed shoes and elf hats, but don't be a hater.

OMG! NOOOOO!!! PUHLEEZE don't let Kurt drive the sleigh! If he hits a cross wind and gets into turbulence, he might cuss out Santa, which might result in Santa leaving for a new job. How would all the good little boys and girls get their Christmas gifts, and all the nasty Kurts and Kyles get their sticks and lumps of coal?

Speaking of Mayfield. I wonder if he'll be implicated in the computer theft at Aegis? ;)

If Santa is R Penske, Kurt won't be driving the sleigh. However, if Santa is J Gibbs, he'll be fitted for the seat.

Merry Christmas to you Carol and the RJO readers.

Because ol Brainfart was to stupid and to greedy so he took the money and ran, without realizing what those rights would be worth in a few years,Surely YOU remember the derisive attitude that na$car had towards "those internet people".

Breaking News: per SiriusXM Radio, Kurt Busch will drive the Phoenix Racing 51 Chevy next year. I wonder, will this will be the "New" Kurt Busch or the "Old" Kurt Busch?

Ha ha ha,,, either Terrell Owens or Randy Moss ended up on the Buffalo Bills when they were at the bottom of the heap (which has been the last decade,,, no offense Buffalo fans) because they were such asses. Kurt Busch is the Terrel Owens/Randy Moss of NASCAR. He has successfuly worked his way to the bottom.
I am sure he will improve Phoenix Racing's results and may even win a race but in all probability he won't be a championship contender.
Wonder if he was given the deal Tony was.... part owner.

It will be the "easily disposed of" Kurt Busch, because there won't be multi-million dollar contracts to worry about. It will be the "you're being used only for your provisional" Kurt Busch. It will be the "never spoken about on TV because he's in a 40th-place car Kurt Busch.

Said Finch: "I told Kurt, 'I won't fire you, and you won't quit. We'll do whatever it takes, roll in the mud if we have to to win.'

The "roll in the mud" should have read "roll over whatever cars get in our way".

Sure hope Finch can get Excedrin as a sponsor - he's going to need a boatload of them. Anyone know how many back-up cars Finch has? He's going to need a bunch of them just to get into the next race.

My attitude is bad except for:

Happy for Kenseth... but, I wish Best Buy would sponsor him for the entire year... not just nine races. Kenseth is a champ, who finished fourth this past season, with three wins. He deserves a good sponsor... IMO.

Kurt supposedly was "entertaining a lot of quality offers"... I am guessing Finch was the best of the bunch. Hey, he is racing just for fun! lol

Looks like A.J. Allmendinger is going to the Penske #22... Good for him! I can't wait to see how he performs in a "quality" ride.

Merry Christmas everyone at RJO!!

This is a situation that can either be a great thing for Kurt - he can turn his attitude around, bring a lower-tier team to the top, etc. -

Or it will be one entertaining train wreck.

We've seen athletes lose their entire careers over drugs, domestic violence, crime, ... but has any sport seen a champion in its respective sport throw away a career with his mouth? He's not going to come back from this. He won't ever again be with a top level team. He's done at 33 years old. Amazing.

I just want to thank Carol and Ed for this great web site. I just discovered RJO a few months ago after I bought an used Android tablet and started reading web pages while not having to sit at the computer. I love the unique humor and sarcasm of the articles here. This has quickly become one of my top 3 favorite NASCAR web pages that I check every day.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Carol, Ed, and all of the RJO fans!
