"I believe anybody who tells you he is unbiased is a liar. Being human gives you bias, and you can't avoid that. The best you can ever hope to be is fair."

The furthest back a winner has started the race is 27th in 1995. Kyle Petty was that winner.

Dover was founded in 1683 by William Penn.

Jeremy Mayfield set a qualifying record at Dover in 2004 with a speed of 161.522 mph.

The most poles won by an active driver is a three-way tie with four poles each by Ryan Newman, Mark Martin, and Jeff Gordon

In 1971, there was a caution-free race at Dover. Bobby Allison won the race after starting on the outside pole.

Delaware has tax-free shopping, so if you'll be attending the race, why not buy a car or at least some clothes while you're in town?

Eleven times the race has ended with just one car on the lead lap! The last driver to win a race on his own lap was Harry Gant in 1991.

Jimmie Johnson won this race last year after starting on the pole.

At five wins, Jimmie also holds the record among active drivers (though he's still two behind the King for all-time Dover wins).

The city of Dover has four school districts, and five colleges.

Just two years ago, there were 40 cars still in the race at the end. This year there are 11 start-and-park cars on the entry list. Only eight will start the race because of NASCAR's top-35 rule.

Dover's fire protection is provided by a volunteer fire department, Robbin's Hose Company.

38 of 81 races at Dover have been won from a top-three starting spot. Only 17 times has the winner started further back than tenth.

Twelve races have been won from the pole.

The elevation of Dover, Delaware is 36 feet above sea level.

I am from Connecticut and if I buy a car while in Dover I still have to pay sales tax on it when I register it in Ct. You've got to "love" Ct.

If you live in Delaware and buy a car you pay a 2% tax.

Other than that it doesn't have sales tax.

Michigan has a "use tax" for any goods bought out of state, the same 6% as sales tax.

Of course, it relies entirely on people reporting the purchases on their state 1040, and nobody does. But theoretically, I should be paying 6% "use tax" on the souvenirs I bought on my road trip to Virginia this summer.

Well, Jimmie is starting on the pole... again.

This is probably where they will take over and never look back.

C'mon Nascar... haul that 48 back to R&D!! Find something, anything! ;)

Well, no sales tax helped when a certain someone (not to be named in this space) dropped a cell-phone into the potty at Sears of Dover Mall, and had to replace it with a new Droid....

But you didn't hear that from me....
