"I believe anybody who tells you he is unbiased is a liar. Being human gives you bias, and you can't avoid that. The best you can ever hope to be is fair."

Nico Rossberg apparently took his motorcoach to Istanbul so he didn't have to fight the traffic to and from the hotel, but says the transportation costs are too high and he won't do that again. Imagine a motorcoach lot at a NASCAR race where just one driver had the whole place to himself.

Jensen Button and his model girlfriend have split. He says the long-distance thing wasn't working, but others are saying he made the hard choice to put his driving first. Good call.

Lewis Hamilton is actually being scrutinized now for wearing earings while he practiced. Apparently the F1 rules prohibit any jewelry from being worn, for safety reasons.

Sebastian Vettel names his cars. Currently he's driving Randy Mandy after breaking up with Luscious Liz. In 2009 he was driving Kate's Dirty Sister. What do you suppose would happen if someone in NASCAR named their car Kate's Dirty Sister?

Lucas di Grassi, driver for Virgin Racing, says his car is heavier than teammate Timo Glock's car because the drivers are different weights. The headline in this story read, of course, "Di Grassi to Ride Heavier Virgin." Really?

Formula One is returning to the U.S. in 2012 on a track that has yet to be built. We know it will be in Austin, Texas. Perhaps Peter Windsor can somehow be involved; at least it's something. But a good question raised is, how can a track be built so quickly in time for 2012, and who will foot the bill to pay Bernie's $25,000,000 each year?

And five illegal immigrants from Africa hid inside some Formula One soft-sided trucks to make their way into Britain last week. They were turned over to border patrol. Imagine if some illegals in Austin hitched a ride thinking they were going to another state, and ended up in, I dunno, say Abu Dhabi? Surprise!!

I think Jeff Gordon should consider himself lucky that it was only a chunk of concrete track that whacked the nose of his car a few years back. In Monaco, a manhole cover came loose and wrecked Rubens Barrichello. The untold story: wouldn't you hate to be the city worker that popped up outta that hole at the wrong time, only to see that yes, the race is THIS weekend, Skippy, not next weekend.

Did you know Kimi watched the Monaco race from his yacht? He didn't even go to the track to visit anyone. I wonder if he's as happy with his WRC career as he expected to be. Please come back, Kimi, we miss you.

Seeing as how the outfit Bernie inked the deal with hasn't promoted anything bigger than some dirt races, there's people suggesting that the whole thing is Bernie trying to play hardball with some other promoter, like the whole Donington Park deal was with Silverstone. The big question, though, would be WHO the heck would he be trying to extort?

On the other hand, most F1 tracks these days are built in about a year, at least to a raceable standard, even if (as with Istanbul) some of the landscaping isn't done until the second race. And Bernie's little fee wouldn't be a real issue, if he gets what he *really* wants, like in Istanbul and Budapest... control over the race promotion and at least partial ownership of the track. (Of course, in both cases, it has resulted in the track sitting idle 51 weeks per year, since Bernie is so paranoid about harming the reputation of his beautiful F1 tracks with lesser series...)

I'm just glad the guy designing the track is the same one who designed the Istanbul one (with it's rather awesome turn 8)!
