"I believe anybody who tells you he is unbiased is a liar. Being human gives you bias, and you can't avoid that. The best you can ever hope to be is fair."

G-Force
John Force was in a nightmare accident on Sunday after what looked like a blown tire. He then collected Kenny Bernstein, and the two of them hit the wall with incredible force. Uh, no pun intended. The 14-time Funny Car Champ was doing 315 miles per hour, and Bernstein was just shy of that. I guess the good news is that Force won the race, as did his daughter Ashley. But Ashley withdrew from her final to go with her dad to the hospital.

The latest news is that he didn't suffer as many injuries as first reported. We first heard he had two broken legs, a broken arm, and a concussion, but a number of sources are now listing his injuries as a broken left ankle, a nasty gash on his right knee cut to the bone, a dislocated and broken left wrist, and some fractures to fingers on his right hand. Enough damage that it seems unlikely he'll be using his legs anytime soon and his arms will probably be doing little more than hugging his family. Doctors say he'll make a full recovery. His fans hope that's true, though some of his fans hope this will be enough to hasten his retirement.

And in true style, as messed up as he was at the track, before being air lifted to the hospital, he wanted to make sure that Kenny Bernstein was okay.

Scott Speed
Currently the only American in F1 racing, Scott Speed sees another form of racing on his horizon, and the cars have fenders. So if you were going to put a guy in a stock car for his first ever race on an oval, wouldn't it make sense to choose a track like, gee I dunno... Talladega? Of course! It makes perfect sense.

He'll be racing with Red Bull and his goal is to make it to the Cup level. I don't know if he'll stick with the same team all the way up through the racing ranks, but when time comes to be signed to a Cup team, my guess is the door will be opened over at Chip Ganassi's Open-wheel Orphanage.

Shake Hands and Make Up Already
They've finally made it official and there will now only be 16 races on the schedule next year for Tony George's shrinking series. I wonder how much longer until the Indy 500 is a one-time stand-alone event like having the Super Bowl only without the whole rest of the season.

Meanwhile, the Champ Car series is shrinking in another way, not with fewer races, but fewer drivers. The biggest name in the sport, winner of 50% of the races this year, Sebastian Bourdais is leaving and headed to Formula One, ironically enough to fill the spot vacated by none other than Scott Speed. No worries, I'm sure Sebastian will see the light soon enough and he, too, will be adopted by Chip Ganassi.

I don't know what it will take, but if something isn't done soon, IndyCar and Champ Car will both be defunct and I don't think there are enough spots in NASCAR to absorb that many drivers.
