"I believe anybody who tells you he is unbiased is a liar. Being human gives you bias, and you can't avoid that. The best you can ever hope to be is fair."

Inside Ed's Head

Forget the Ponytail, Tony is Here!

Saturday-
I slept in a bit this morning, and then my amazing in-laws were having a yard sale, so I took some time to help them a bit this morning. All that to say that 8 AM at the racetrack didn't happen today.

I did make it to the track, though, and all seems good.  In the Cup garage, they are still working on Kasey’s #5 car, after doing an engine swap.  I didn’t notice if he made it on the track for practice or not.

Kevin Harvick was fastest in the Cup final practice session. As the other drivers can probably attest, that does not bode well for their chances tomorrow.  Keelan's dad does very well here.

Something that I’m not real sure is new, or just something I haven’t noticed before:  Drivers fire-suits.  Specifically, the rear of the driver fire-suits, just above the waistline.  They all seem to have some sort of design there, that makes the drivers look like they are getting a perpetual wedgie.  It’s a half oval type of design, and a different color than the rest of the suit.  Often a complimentary color- as if the driver’s undies for the aforementioned wedgie are sponsor approved.  Does Fruit of the Loom sponsor anyone? Or everyone?

Not sure if it is due to the age of the Xfinity drivers, but the only baby I saw this morning was that of Kyle Busch.  Little Busch, immediately upon seeing daddy, tried to steal his hat.

Apparently Tony Stewart is at the track today.  I have yet to see him, so I have yet to be intimidated by him.

I just watched Kyle Busch absolutely dominate the Xfinity race.  Again.  I’m not a big fan of watching Kyle Busch win, but I do find it hard to complain too much on a beautiful day like today.  It does help make for a short column though.

Much like qualifying for the Cup race, the Xfinity race started with a Joe Gibbs racing 1-2-3: Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, then Daniel Suarez.  It also ended that way, just in a different order: Busch was 1st, Jones was 2nd, and then Suarez was 3rd. However, it just came over the PA that #20 and Eric Jones failed post-race inspection with the rear toe being out. No word on penalties.  I’m sure that will happen on Tuesday.  This is the same thing that disqualified Kyle Busch form the Cup Series Pole at Atlanta a few weeks back.

Like I said, it’s hard to watch Kyle Busch win.  But what is that old adage?  A bad day at the track is better than a good day working?  Or is it fishing?

I’ve never been much of a fisherman.
